CTEC Energy could reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 10 million tonnes and save the NHS over £1.5 billion by 2040

Our vision is to bring clean power to the world to reduce CO2 emissions, and make the world a climate-friendly place

Turning waste into energy

CTEC Energy, has been working alongside a talented group of experts to bring clean energy production and waste management systems to the world. At CTEC Energy, we design, engineer and manufacture Energy Recovery Equipment and utilise 100% waste to generate clean, renewable energy.

Many hospitals are near their capacity for electrical supply and future demand is growing due to the widening use of more sophisticated diagnostic and treatment equipment, as well as inevitable electrification of vehicles including ambulances.

How does it work?

CTEC Energy is a British company producing Localised Power Generation using synthetic gas from non-recyclable plastic, mixed with biomass.

This syngas can be used to produce electricity, hot water or hydrogen with the lowest industry emissions from non-recyclable waste.

Imagine if plastic waste was worth a fortune

Recovery of materials from historic landfill sites might sound far into the future, but it offers a much cleaner solution to the environment and feed our need for smart technology, energy storage and electric vehicles. Recycling the plastics and metals (including gold) and using the CTEC system to create electricity and hot water could create a completely new approach to recycling.

How to power the hospital

The solution is by organising the infrastructures around the hospital, this is a planning exercise.

Increasing energy costs will drive up infrastructure planning, to promote localised power generation.

Hospitals are looking for partnerships in their local area to build Energy sustainability.

Hospital resources and emissions are being scrutinised, it's not the hospital which is a mean to an end its how to power the hospital.

Frequently asked questions

How much electricity can be generated from the Hydrogen with two gasifiers?

Two gasifiers will produce enough Hydrogen to generate 2MW of electricity from 1100kg per hour of 75% Plastic with25% Biomass.

What is the foot print size of a standard CTEC Waste to Energy System?

A standard CTEC Waste to Energy System footprint is 25m x 30m x 6m high.

What is the sale cost of a standard CTEC Waste to Energy System?

Please apply for specific quotation.

How long is the payback for a standard CTEC Waste to Energy System?

A standard CTEC Waste to Energy System payback is between 2 & 3 years

What is the average IRR on a standard CTEC Waste to Energy System?

A standard CTEC Waste to Energy System IRR is between 15% & 30%

Why should I purchase a CTEC Waste to Energy System?

CTEC is at the forefront of ultra clean waste to energy systems using the best available technologies to generate sustainable revenue

Burning of plastic can be harmful to the environment. How do you minimise GHG (Greenhouse Heating Gases)?

We use a staged approach for CO2 reduction, which involves moisture removal from waste and controlled gasification via the Boudouard reaction (CO shift reaction using CTEC's filtration system). The controlled system is optimised for emissions reduction and the gasifier only uses exhaust gas recirculation for controlled amounts of oxygen. A further stage can be added for CO2 capture based on an aqueous monoethanolamine solution. Total CO2 reduction is targeted to achieve 80% of total CO2 emissions.

How much waste can you process?

250kg to 750kg per hour depending on waste calorific value

How much electricity do you produce?

350 kW per hour

How much thermal energy do you produce?

2.8mW per hour
