Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer

Mike Burns

Mike is a life-long automotive engine designer since serving an apprenticeship at Marconi (in gearbox design) and has become a recognised expert in engine thermodynamics after a career with multinational automotive and engineering firms in senior management roles. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate who became a Senior Engine Developer at Ricardo's where he worked for over eight years. He then moved to International Automotive Design where he undertook a range of engine and chassis product engineering design projects for clients including Ford, Volvo and Fiat. Subsequently at Daewoo UK he was Chief Engineer managing a team of 250 people building and testing vehicle and engine prototypes. Prior to committing to the development of innovative design in the Heat Recovery space, he undertook automotive Chassis fatigue testing at Sussex University for Ford motor company. Since 2010, he has been dedicated to building a team of experienced engineers at CTEC who have specific thermodynamic engineering design and manufacturing expertise to deliver his proprietary designs of next generation HR systems.

Financial Director

Guy Lindup

​Guy is a graduate from Greenwich University BA Hons Economics and Accounting and also has a MBA from Brighton university (). He has held senior Finance and Purchasing roles at Daewoo European Design & Engineering Centre, Tom Walkinshaw Racing Limited and Newell Rubbermaid Inc.

Guy manages our accounting and day to day administration. Budgetary control, financial planning, Bill of Materials, purchasing and logistics. He is also a Build Technician.


Jim Mason

Jim is a career automotive engineer who has held a wide range of senior management positions in the industry covering both technical and strategic areas. His initial training was with General Motors (GM)and then followed positions of Engineering Director, Leyland Trucks; Technical Director for Pegaso Trucks and Buses based in Madrid Spain. Before pursuing his current Industrial consultant role, he was the Managing Director of the European Technical Centre for the South Korean conglomerate Daewoo. He holds CEng, BSc and FIMechE qualifications.

Peter Tahany

​Peter is a solicitor and experienced non-executive director having invested in and worked with many early stage companies over the last twenty years. He is a corporate financier who specialises in advising growth technology businesses in the development and execution of strategic objectives and building shareholder value.

Rob Merriman

Successful business angel with a depth of experienced in the clean-tech sector. Spent 20 years working for top tier investment banks. Reached senior managing director responsible for a global business with net revenues of $1.35 billion and built another $250 million net revenue global business from scratch. Qualified accountant.

Chief Build Engineer

Chris Burns

​Chris has 11 years direct experience in heat recovery techniques, office & work shop based, analytical research with hands on test and development. Chris has a Full understanding of Steam processes, development of steam components specifically aimed at heat recovery.

​Control system construction and operation, invention of new control based algorithms to allow control of thermal power and implications of converting that thermal energy into super heated steam to generate electricity.

Chris has managed and controlled the whole research and development department of all our heat recovery and steam applications with direct influence on engineering decisions and processes.

Expert in Computer programming, mig - tig welding, fabrication and CNC machining, Chris has looked after and developed most of the technology demonstration units and sold systems.

Chris has worked for CTEC from the beginning and has a full understanding of running of the systems - installations and plc control.  

Control Engineer & Build Engineer

Marco Cucinotta

Marco graduated B Eng (Hons) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (specialising in Control) from Portsmouth University. His career spans senior engineering roles at Daewoo and TWR Engineering Ltd. Technical Specialist with Menard Engineering UK (F1 & NASCAR) and as Manager at the Worthing Technical Centre for Ultramotive Ltd UK.

Marco is responsible for our Control system design and build (Hardware/Software). System testing, durability and safety. Data collection and remote monitoring.

Chief Engineer

Paul Burns

​Paul has been a heat transfer and fluid management engineer for the past 15 years after serving an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering (Alfa Laval) he went on to R&D of automotive hybrid fuel technology as a consultant with advanced knowledge in thermo dynamics and mechanical structures. Paul also specialise in  Unigraphics NX 3D-2D CAD and PLC systems.

After graduating he furthered his career as a Product Design Engineer in fluid handling for HMD PUMPS  magnetic drive technology. Paul worked on R&D products and was largely involved with improving existing designs, re-designs using new technology and reducing cost all through departments and after 4 years he became a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers.

Paul has been consulting for us since 2010 and joined the team full time in 2015 as Chief Engineer. Paul is heavily involved in the design and development of all heat recovery applications with full management control of engineering decisions, CAD detailed models and drawings including all future projects. Paul is a great asset to the company and we are very fortunate to have him now full time.

Jean Yves

Graduated as Chemical Engineer in a French major engineers school, "Agro paris Tech" Jean Yves  spent over 40 years in chemical, energy, and environment projects.

He is specialised since 30 years in waste activities, mainly within SUEZ Group as manager of the engineering department for turn keys incineration plants with heat recovery, as Development director  within Caisse des Depots Environment Pôle, where he created the hazardous waste incineration  activity.

Jean Yves has an Unique renown and complete experience for design, implementation, operation, and audits  for all kind of thermal treatment wastes with heat recovery

Homologation / Type Approval CE Marking Specialist

Steve Wilson

​Steve’s career started in regulation/governance and over many years has covered all disciplines of type approval and project management. Steve has a wide knowledge and  expertise  in Homologation,  legislation, quality control, compliance, risk assessments and certification of products and is responsible for the process of certifying and approving Ctec products to meet regulatory standards, specifications, safety and technical requirements in order to CE mark our products.

Keshav Tamhankar

​Keshav Tamhankar is the owner and Managing Director of SpectraTek, also the representative in Pune Maharashtra state of India of Clean Thermodynamics Energy Conversion Ltd. The CTEC system provides absolute convenience and effectiveness of combusting waste close to its source and therefore SpectraTek would like to offer it to the Indian Market the CTEC decentralized garbage/Medical waste disposal systems.

Business Developer

Marie Bierent

Marie graduated from the Ecole des Mines de Douai (engineering diploma) and specialized in the Energy sector. She gained experience in decentralized energy networks through her placement at Veolia UK. MSc in Environmental Engineering and Business Management at Imperial College London. She is now developing the business activities of Ovive and its partner CTEC Energy.
